Number one, and it's a bit of a meme, have Fable 5 write skill files for Opus 4.8, Sonnet 5, and ChatGPT. You're essentially teaching your cheap models to think like the expensive one before the billing starts in Fable 5. That's the single biggest move in this window and it keeps paying long after the 7th. But just remember, you can't have Fable turn Opus into Fable, otherwise Anthropic will just do that. What we're talking about here is reusable skills built by a better model that are later used by Opus or Sonnet or anything else. You won't get Fable level intelligence from the output, but the planning and reusability from Fable is a sound approach for these other agents. Number two, build the assets you'll reuse for months. Agent scaffolds, diligence templates, and operating model, an operating manual for your workflow, a design system or component library you pull from on every future project. Every playbook going around right now says the same thing. Spend the free window generating durable assets. A scaffold you build this week still works in September. A throwaway Minecraft clone dies the second your access does. Number three, turn it loose on what you already shipped. Let it tear through your live app for bugs and dead codes and then fix them. Even let it go look out for features that you haven't thought of and have it build that in the same time. Number four, turn that Fable intelligence against your backlog or your AI brain. Have it research and document topics. Find and explore problems you haven't even thought of. Look across your entire Obsidian vault or your Notion database for new projects to work on. Roadmap those to completion or even features to build out from your vault. And hint, that's an agentic loop you can have Opus do even after July 7th. So bank that one. Number five, look for a plan you'll build later. Fable's real edge here is planning in the hard calls. A lot of people are using Fable to write scope plans even right now and having Opus, Sonnet, or GPT-5 actually complete the work. So have it spec out your next big project in full with the tricky parts mapped out and the risky calls already made. You're banking the expensive model's best thinking as the blueprint later down the line for cheap models to run. And another hint, the plan itself is the durable asset. It survives even after the downgrade and if your access doesn't. Here's another takeaway, you can just breathe. Thariq and Anthropic already said that Fable is coming back to subscriptions once they've cleared capacity. So after the 7th, you're going to drop to metered credit. You may not even use Fable or you may spend some actual money to actually use the model. But don't panic, hoarding and having FOMO about the next four days because eventually, a week or two, Fable will be back out on the subscription plan.
