The Army Reserve offers Soldiers a unique path to serve their country while pursuing opportunities beyond full-time active duty. For SGM Laurin Nabors, that path ultimately led from operating heavy equipment in the Army Reserve to helping shape Army policy inside the Pentagon. Host Fran Racioppi sat down with Sergeant Major of the Army Mike Weimer, SGM Alex Kupratty of the Army G-3/5/7, and SGM Laurin Nabors of the Army G-1 to discuss standards, service, and leadership across the force. During the conversation, SGM Nabors shares her journey from joining the Army Reserve as a way to balance military service and college to finding a long-term career through the Active Guard Reserve (AGR) program. She explains how AGR Soldiers serve in a full-time capacity while remaining part of the Army Reserve, receiving the same retirement and benefits as their active-duty counterparts while supporting Reserve units around the world. The discussion explores the critical role AGR Soldiers play in logistics, sustainment, and force management, as well as how opportunities within the Army Reserve can create pathways to leadership at the highest levels of the institution. Nabors reflects on why the AGR program offered her the best of both worlds and how those experiences prepared her for her current role within Army G-1. From the motor pool to the Pentagon, SGM Nabors' story highlights the diverse opportunities available across the Total Army and the many paths Soldiers can take to serve, lead, and make an impact.
