These terms are the agreement between you and [[LEGAL_ENTITY_NAME]] — placeholder, not yet filled in ( “Overshot”, “we”) covering overshot.io and everything on it. By using the site you accept them. If you do not, do not use the site — most of it is readable without an account, and that reading is use.
Overshot is a research tool for short-form video marketing. It reads public TikTok posts through a third-party API, scores each one against the median view count of its own creator's recent posts, and — for the posts that beat that baseline by a wide margin — runs a language model over the video to work out what it is selling and how it is put together. The result is a browsable, searchable index of posts that outperformed their creator's own normal.
Browsing the index is free and does not require an account, and free readers see a sample of each result set — 8 videos, 24 products, 8 sounds — with the same ranking, filters and sorts a subscriber gets. A free account adds a saved list. Pro opens the full index and adds search, the full video breakdowns, CSV export and the creator-promotion column. What each tier includes is set out on the pricing page, and that page is part of these terms.
Overshot is built and run by one person on one server. There is no support team, no account manager and no uptime commitment. We answer the contact form ourselves and we answer it in days, not minutes.
You must be at least 16 years old, and old enough to enter a contract where you live, to hold an Overshot account. If you are subscribing on behalf of a company, you confirm you are allowed to bind it.
Your email address is your identity here. There is no username. You may sign in with a password or with Google; either way the address is the account, and one address is one account. Keep control of the mailbox — a password reset code sent to it is enough to take over the account, which is a deliberate design and is why the mailbox matters more than the password.
You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us through the contact form if you think someone else is in it. Running a password reset from the “forgot your password” flow ends every existing session on every device, which is the fastest way to lock someone out.

We enforce this by rate-limiting, by suspension, and — if the account is paid — by cancelling it and refunding the unused remainder pro-rata.
Pro is $29 per month, or $228 per year paid once. Prices are in US dollars and are exclusive of VAT or sales tax, which Stripe calculates at checkout from your billing address.
Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each term — monthly for a monthly plan, every twelve months for an annual one — at the price you are on, charged to the card on file, until you cancel. For annual plans we email you a renewal reminder 21 days before the charge, stating the date, the amount and a direct link to cancel online.
Cancelling is two clicks from your account page and takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. There is nothing to email, no retention call and no downgrade tier that still charges you. Nothing you saved is deleted when Pro ends: your saved items stay visible and removable even if you are over the Free limit of 50. The Pro features themselves — search, the full video breakdowns, the velocity panel, the resolved creator links and CSV export — stop when the subscription stops.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. If a payment fails, Stripe retries over roughly two weeks; Pro stays on during those retries, and if they all fail the subscription is marked unpaid and Pro switches off until the outstanding invoice is paid.
The list price will go up for new subscribers as Overshot grows past one person and one server. It does not go up for you. The price you subscribed at is the price you keep paying for as long as your subscription stays active — this is not a promise we have to remember to keep, it is how Stripe works: prices are immutable objects and your subscription records the one you bought.
If we ever do need to change the price of an existing subscription, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect, and cancelling before that date leaves you charged nothing extra.

The posts indexed here were published publicly on TikTok by their creators, who own them. We store each post's own metrics, a copy of the video or its slides and its cover image, the caption, and the analysis our model writes after watching it. The copy is not optional: TikTok's CDN links expire in roughly 24 hours, so a stored link would be a dead thumbnail by the next day.
Overshot is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to TikTok or ByteDance. We have no access to anyone's TikTok account, no partnership and no private data. We use a third-party API that reads what any visitor to the app can see.
If you are a creator and you want a post of yours removed from the index, email overshotapp@gmail.com — placeholder, not yet filled in with the link. We will remove the copy of the media and the analysis. Nothing here is a claim of ownership over your work.
Product names, brands, landing pages and destination links belong to their owners. Their appearance on a product page is a statement that a video promoted them, not an endorsement in either direction.
The site, the scoring method, the analysis prompts, the derived classifications (outlier scores, formats, hook archetypes, promo subtlety, product attribution) and the way it is all arranged are ours. Your access is a licence to use them, not a transfer of them, and it ends when your account does.
What you write stays yours — your saved lists, your notes, anything you send through the contact form. We do not sell it, and we do not train models on it.
Data you export as CSV is yours to use in your own work, including for clients, subject to the resale restriction in section 3. If you publish a finding from Overshot, a credit is appreciated and not required.
Read this one. It is not boilerplate and it is not hedging.
Most of what Overshot shows you is derived, not observed. The outlier score is a ratio against a median we computed from a sample of a creator's recent posts, so it moves as that sample moves. What a video is “selling”, how it is shot, how subtle the promotion is and which product page it belongs on are all a language model's reading of the video, and a language model is wrong sometimes. So are we: this project's own engineering notes document a run where 2,588 videos were attached to a product that contradicted them, a page that read “MarketerHub” while keyed to ChatGPT, and 124 of one product's 250 videos linked to it only because the editing app inserts its own hashtag into every export.
Those specific failures were found and repaired, and there is a stack of automated audits — name reconciliation, identity recomputation, family reconciliation, link auditing — whose entire job is to keep finding the next one. That machinery exists because the data is imperfect, not because it is finished.
So: the service is provided as is and as available, with no warranty of accuracy, completeness, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. View counts, follower counts and destination links change after we read them. Coverage of any given niche is whatever discovery has reached, which is not everything. Nothing here is business, financial or legal advice, and a decision to spend money on a product or a format because Overshot ranked it highly is yours. There is a “Report incorrect product” control on every video page and we act on it.
We do not promise the site will be available, and there is no SLA. It runs on one droplet. An hour of downtime is a plausible Tuesday.
To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, for lost profit, lost revenue, lost opportunity or lost data, or for any decision you took on the basis of something you read here.
Our total liability to you for any claim, however it arises, is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. For most people that is zero, because most of Overshot is free — and that is the honest shape of a one-person product, not a trick.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Some jurisdictions do not allow some of these exclusions; where that is so, they apply to the extent permitted and no further.
You can close your account at any time by asking through the contact form. There is no self-service delete button yet, and saying so is better than pointing you at one that does not exist. Closing an account deletes your user record, and with it your sessions, your email codes, your saved lists and your usage history. It does not delete the corpus, which is not about you.
We can suspend or close an account that breaks section 3, that is used to attack the service, or where we are required to. If we close a paid account without cause, we refund the unused remainder pro-rata. If we close it for a breach of section 3, we do not.
We may change these terms. Material changes are announced on this page with a new “last updated” date and, if you have an account, by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use Overshot after that is acceptance; if you would rather not, cancel — and if you cancel because of a change to these terms mid-term, ask and we will refund the remainder.
If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stands. Not enforcing something once is not a waiver of it.
These terms are governed by the laws of [[GOVERNING_LAW]] — placeholder, not yet filled in, and the courts there have exclusive jurisdiction, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing in this section removes a consumer protection you have where you live that cannot be contracted out of.
