Will you ever have the courage to quit your corporate job without a backup plan? That’s probably the question I’ve been asking myself the most lately. And after I resigned, it became the question everyone else asked me too. “Where are you going next?” “Which company are you joining?” The truth is… nowhere. This marks the end of my 8 years in the corporate life. I started as a freelance content creator, earning just $35 a month. 8 years later, I walked away as a Senior Marketing Manager, making four figures a month. For the longest time, I thought I was chasing success, a bigger salary, a better title, the next promotion. But somewhere along the way, I stopped asking myself what I was actually chasing. Was it money? A position? Power? Recognition? Then it hit me. Moving from one company to another wasn’t really the answer anymore. It felt like moving from one golden cage to another. Different walls, same feeling. And I knew that if I kept going, I’d slowly lose myself again. What made this decision even harder was that I genuinely loved the people, the memories, and everything we had built together over the years. Walking away wasn’t easy because there was so much I cared about. So, for the first time in my adult life, I chose something different. I chose to stop. To take a real break instead of rushing into another job. To give myself the emotional regulation I never allowed myself to have. To live a slower life somewhere quiet. To reconnect with the version of me that existed before deadlines, meetings, and the endless chase. I don’t know exactly what comes next. But for the first time in a long time, I’m okay with not knowing. Because I’m far more afraid of spending another 8 years chasing a life that no longer feels like mine.
