Never retire without these seven documents because if you're missing any of them, your family will be begging a judge for their own money the second your heart stops beating. Honey, we're retiring in two years. If something happens to one of us tomorrow, does the other person actually know what to do? We've got the will. Isn't that enough? That's exactly what I thought until I started reading. A will doesn't skip court. It sends you straight to it. So what do we actually need? First thing, a revocable living trust. That's what keeps us out of probate. No judges, no attorneys bleeding us dry. No months of frozen accounts. What else? We need a financial power of attorney. If you're ever in the hospital or dealing with dementia, I need legal authority to handle our money. Without it, I'm stuck begging strangers for permission. That's terrifying. Then there's healthcare power of attorney. Same idea, but for medical decisions. And we also need HIPAA authorization. Federal privacy laws are so strict that without this signed, the hospital can't even tell me what's wrong. I had no idea. Next is a living will. That's what tells doctors your wishes if you're ever on life support. And here's the one that destroys families: your beneficiary designations on your 401k and life insurance override everything. If those forms still list your ex from decades ago, guess where your entire life savings go? I don't even remember the last time I checked mine. Most people don't. And that's how your kids end up with nothing. Oh, and the last one is a pour-over will. Any asset you forget to put in the trust automatically gets added to it. You're a genius. Where'd you learn all this? It's all laid out in the Living Trust Playbook for Seniors. Every morning with my coffee. Tap the orange link and grab the book out of court and in control.
