Took me a while to figure this out when I first started, but here's the math. Example: If you're running $5,000 a month in ad spend on your Business Platinum, you're leaving about 180,000 points a year on the table. That's $60,000 a year in advertising earning 1x on the Platinum, because ads aren't a bonus category there. On the Business Gold card, advertising is one of six eligible categories that can earn 4x, which turns that same spend into 240,000 points. Add $1,000 a month in client dinners and it gets worse: $12,000 a year at 1x versus 4x is another 36,000 points gone. The Gold picks your top two categories automatically each billing cycle from six options, including U.S. advertising in select media, restaurants, gas, electronic goods and software & cloud providers, U.S. wireless phone service, and transit. That's 4x on up to $150,000 in combined purchases per calendar year The Business Platinum earns 5x on flights and prepaid hotels through Amex Travel, 2x on select business categories and purchases of $5,000 or more, and only 1x on most of what a real business buys day to day 😭 Timing matters here, because the Amex Business Gold Welcome Offer is currently as high as 200,000 points I'm not saying to throw your biz platinum in the trash - it's a great card for the credits and benefits (if your maxing them all!). But for 99% of business owners, it's the absolute worst card to put your spend on 😅 🔗 CLOUD9CLUB.NET/BIZCARD for details and current offers
