If I just got this card today, here's three things that I would do right now to make sure I got over $2,000 in value in the first year. First, immediately activate all of the free perks that comes with it, including Apple TV, Global Entry TSA pre-check, free Doordash dash pass membership, plus $10 every single month to use at Doordash. Let's not forget the $100 annual hotel credit. Value so far: $559. Second, I would make sure to really understand all the category multipliers on this card because they're insane. 3 points per dollar on dining, online groceries, gas and EV charge, vacation homes, streaming services, 2 points per dollar on all travel, plus 5 points per dollar on Chase Travel portal and Lyft rides. This means that this $95 card will earn you points a lot faster than just using an Amex Platinum for everything, for example, which costs $900 a year. Based on the average spend for a family of two in the US, you would end up earning another about 109,000 points every single year just from regular, everyday spending with this card. Value so far: $559 + 109K pts. Third, I would learn the 100,000 point welcome offer on Chase Travel. The bonus on this card is usually lower, but until July 30th, they offer an elevated offer of 100,000 points, which is only the third time that's happened in 15+ years of history. Most people think 100,000 points equals $1,000. That can be true if you cash it out the easiest way possible, which is still value, because again, this is a $95 card. But if you know how to use those points, you know that 100,000 points can get you a round trip business class flight to Europe, for example, which can be worth between $3,500 and $6,000. That brings our grand total for the first year of holding this card to $2,689. That's the bare minimum. That's if you use the points the wrong way. But if you do what I do and transfer to the right partners, you can actually get the same value that I get, which is way over $5,000. One $95 card.
