Today wasn’t one of those “perfect therapy” days. Alonzo didn’t want to stand at all. I think he was still adjusting to his borrowed AFOs they felt different, and maybe uncomfortable. He cried, resisted, and simply didn’t want to do it. So instead of forcing him, I asked myself, “What would make him want to stand?” The answer was simple… the balcony. He loves looking outside. The cars, the buildings, the breeze, the little things most of us don’t even notice. Suddenly, standing didn’t feel like an exercise anymore it became something he wanted to do. Being a medical mom has taught me that progress isn’t always about pushing harder. Sometimes it’s about changing the environment, following your child’s interests, and meeting them where they are. And seeing him stand there, curious and calm, reminded me that every little milestone is built on patience, creativity, and so much love. To everyone walking a similar journey: it’s okay if Plan A doesn’t work. Sometimes the breakthrough is waiting in Plan B. Good job, my brave boy. One step, one stand, one day at a time. 🫶 #medicalmom #MommyJanaAndAlonzo #cerebralpalsy
