Stop Judging People for their Jobs

You ever watch someone sparkle leave their eye when you tell them where you work? The conversation suddenly becomes duller and the other person is just not interested in getting to know you any further because they know how much you make or what you're doing for work. This happened to me often when I told people I was working at a movie theatre on top of my serving job. So I'd go back and forth from both establishments depending on what my schedule is. And don't get me started on family. Oh my god, they're the number one judgmental people cause they want you to do well. And especially since I'm coming from an immigrant household, they don't wanna know that their oldest daughter is suddenly working at a theatre now and back at restaurants. They wanna hear that I'm making more money than them or doing better than them. And that's why people work so hard to get that big girl, big guy job, so they can finally feel like they're somebody, like they're valuable in the friend group or in the family dynamic. And it's honestly so sad because you will lose yourself. You try to be picture perfect when you're so depressed and sad. And some people luck out and are able to have a great balance between work and life. Good for you. But for those people who aren't in a really good situation with their job and their life, it does get better. You just have to detach from these people who are judgemental and focus on yourself.
