I realized that forcing everyone into one room just so we can say we had “one birthday party” doesn’t necessarily make it better for her. I don’t want her day to be about adults watching each other, feeling uncomfortable, managing emotions, or wondering if everyone is okay. I want the attention to be exactly where it belongs … on her. So instead of one day with underlying tension, she gets two beautiful days completely centered around celebrating her. She gets a special day with her dad, and she gets a special day with me and her siblings. I worried that having separate celebrations meant I was putting my feelings before my daughter’s. I’m realizing it can actually mean the opposite. She doesn’t need one perfect looking birthday party. She needs to feel safe, celebrated, and ridiculously loved. And that little girl gets to be celebrated twice. 🤍 #affairrecovery #coparentingstruggles #singlemoms #custody #divorcetok
