These are a couple rules that I live by to protect my credit. Just to add to it, this is stuff that I actually had to go through and learn the hard way, so take my advice if you want to, but this is stuff I had to learn the hard way. So first, I never miss a credit card payment. I've never missed a credit card payment, no matter if I was down bad that month or whatever. I've never missed a credit card payment. That is the first number one thing that I will live by, like I will not miss a credit card payment. The second thing is don't open like too many cards too fast because that can actually hurt your credit versus helping your credit. You have to kind of space it out to like three to six months every credit card is more like what you should live by. Um, I would say three months at like the least. If you can do six months, do six months, but if not, like I understand. You always want to keep your old cards open as well. I made this mistake young. I opened up a card whenever I was 18 and um, forgot to use the card and so then the card closed. And I would have had that card line for like 10 years at that point whenever it closed. And it definitely hurt my credit whenever it closed, but I learned the hard way. So keep all your old lines open, even if you're just spending like a pack of gum every three months at the gas station, like keep your old lines open because it does help your credit.
