I usually never make response videos because I do not like internet drama. Um, and I'm not trying to start drama now because this girl Eliana made this video about me and I actually think she made a lot of valid points and I wanted to talk about it. The video specifically about hustle culture and how I'm perpetuating like a toxic negative like culture of hustling and working at the office until 1 AM. And hustle culture is something I've talked about a lot. Like I started my career when I was 16. I like totally put all of my self worth into like my work. I also started my career at the height of like girl boss and hustle culture where like all of what was trending in the entrepreneurial world was like you are not working hard enough if you're not on the brink of burnout. And like I fully leaned into that when I was a teenager. I was really focused on like overachieving with all my grades, extracurriculars, getting into Harvard on like a full ride, which I did. And I was also like rarely sleeping and like going to the hospital for like passing out from exhaustion. Like I definitely had some sort of chronic depression from working too much and like obsession with working late. That's something I learned the hard way because I went to residential rehab in 2020 that like I was pushing my body to the limits. That being said, where I am today is I feel like I'm hustling not because it comes from a place of like deep insecurity, but because like I genuinely love working. I'm really, really passionate about what I'm building with Pie and like I'm a night owl. So like if I can be at the office until 1 AM and I have shit to do because I'm building a company I believe in and I will also make sure that I catch up on sleep if I'm sleeping less than 8 hours a night. This is crazy for me considering I used to be like diagnosed insomniac because I had an obsession with working late and like the thing is is like I don't think anybody would make this video one if I were a man, I would probably be praised for like working hard and working late and feeling like first in the office last to leave. But also, I think like the creator of this video, Eliana, she did not include the fact that like I've been really vocal about hustle culture and the fact that like I love to hustle and I don't want to be shamed for liking that. And as long as you're sleeping enough, you're eating well, you're maintaining healthy habits, like yes, health comes first. And it's okay to love the hustle. Like I love the hustle. Like I have really, really big goals and like I've found a schedule that works for me. And like that's something I really believe in. Like what about going after like the guys who are like, oh, I sleep 4 hours, I do polyphasic sleeping and then I wake up at 4 AM for my morning routine. Like I do not have a morning routine. I woke up 5 minutes before my call started. And at the same time, like I love to hustle. Like I think I've released shame about like liking that and at the same time, like monitoring like how much I'm working. Like, yeah, I will work till 1 AM when I have shit to do because I'm building a company I believe in and I will also make sure that I catch up on sleep if I'm sleeping less than 8 hours a night. And I don't believe you can have it all. Like I think that like I've had to make some big sacrifices, especially like my personal social life. Anyway, I just feel like I've been being tagged a lot in this video and again, usually I never comment or respond and I do not mean to use Eliana or like anything, but like this video has taken out of context, taken like just it kind of doesn't include like all the history that I've been really vocal about hustle culture and the fact that I like to hustle and I don't want to be shamed others for liking the hustle as long as you're sleeping enough, you're eating well, you're maintaining healthy habits, like yes, health comes first. And it's okay to love the hustle. Like I love the hustle. Like I have really, really big goals and like I've found a schedule that works for me.
