For most of my adult life, I never really thought about who I would travel with. There was always someone. My husband. The kids. Family holidays. Friends. Then the kids grew up, my marriage ended, and suddenly I had more freedom than I’d had in years. And nobody to travel with. I’m successful. I have a full life. I’m not looking to “find myself.” I just don’t want to stop doing interesting things because my life looks different now. I tried traveling solo. I can do it. But honestly? Some experiences are just better when you have people to share them with. Then I found MeetAndRetreat.Club and saw something I hadn’t really come across before. A 10-night retreat in Portugal this September for just 7 women over 50 — all coming solo. That immediately felt different. You get to know each other beforehand in a private group chat. So you’re traveling solo, but you’re not arriving alone. And these are women at a similar stage of life. Women who’ve built careers, businesses, families. Women who have their own stories and are thinking about what they want next. The retreat itself sounds wonderful — a private place in the Algarve, great food, Pilates and training, massage, long dinners, nature, time to actually switch off. And the host, Tatjana, is fascinating too — former Dutch national synchronized swimmer, later worked with Cirque du Soleil performers, and now an entrepreneur. I think I could learn a lot from women like that. So I applied. Maybe what I need now isn’t someone to travel with forever. Maybe I just need to find women who want to go to the same places I do, right now. Portugal might be the first one.
