Some lessons in life make you understand why certain struggles seem to never end. Today reminded me that you cannot expect an end result from something you never put effort into. You have to plant before you can harvest. As foreigners, we must also understand that our future and our children’s future require effort. We cannot remain silent, ignore important issues, or expect things to magically change. Ask questions, seek information, prepare, participate, and advocate for yourself and your children. Today, seeing my daughter among the few people from our background taking this exam made me incredibly proud. We showed up, we prepared, and we made the effort.
