Why it worked

The video leverages a 'curiosity gap' and a 'troll' mechanic, where the creator explicitly tells the viewer nothing will happen, which paradoxically encourages them to stay and watch to see if he is lying.

Summary

The creator uses a bait-and-switch technique, promising a video of a ball hitting him in the face that never happens, to keep viewers watching and encourage them to share the video with friends. He introduces himself as a reaction video creator and asks for follows and shares.

Structure

1Creator teases a ball hitting him in the face
2Creator repeatedly tells the viewer it won't happen
3Creator introduces himself and his content
4Creator asks for likes and follows
5Creator encourages viewers to share the video to waste their friends' time
