If your resume says you assisted, if your resume says you supported, if your resume says you helped, girl, did you really do anything? I worked in HR for over three and a half years, and one of the fastest ways I can tell someone's level is by the verbs they use on their resume. There's support work and then there's ownership work. Both are valuable, but if you owned it and didn't write it as so, you're underselling yourself. Support work means you follow a certain set of steps and the final call rests in someone else's hands. Ownership means you use your own judgment, made the decisions, and the results were on you. So if you ran the process from start to finish, assisted becomes coordinated. If you were in charge, helped becomes led. And if they use your idea, then suggested becomes implemented. Now before you go swapping every verb on your resume, only use ownership if you can explain it in an interview with specifics. Because if it overpromises, the interview exposes it. Or the job does. Either way, the truth is bound to come out. Your resume gets you the interview, your answers get you the job. Make sure they tell the same story. Free cheat sheet, link in bio.
