7 things I’ve learnt working in social media & content 🤳🤳 1. Contextualise everything Never assume your audience knows what you’re talking about. If you have a huge portfolio of products, services or locations, create every piece of content as if it’s someone’s first time seeing your brand. 2. People sell things. If you want engagement, put people in your content. Faces, personalities, real experiences and human moments will almost always give your audience more to connect with than a product sitting on its own. 3. Get more lo-fi. Even if your brand is polished, social doesn’t always need to be. iPhone content feels native to the platform, and some of my highest-performing content has been the least produced. 4. Stop cross-posting blindly. The same piece of content isn’t guaranteed to work everywhere. Different platforms have different audiences, behaviours and content cultures. Build a platform strategy, not one strategy copied three times. 5. Find the story. Before you post, ask: what’s the narrative here? What am I making someone feel, think or want to know? If there’s no answer, the content probably needs rethinking. 6. Crediting your creatives is chic. Tagging and publicly crediting the photographers, videographers etc. helps build a stronger creative community. 7. Lighting is absolutely everything. It can completely change the mood of your content and how people respond to it. I’ll always advocate for sunlit content because it instantly feels brighter and more inviting. #socialmediamarketing #contentcreator #socialmediamanager #marketing #careeradvice
