This is my 2024 review of the American Express Gold. Now, unlike its older brother, the American Express Platinum, the American Express Gold is actually versatile for day-to-day purchases. Going to buy groceries? Why not earn 4x? What about dining out? Why not earn 4x? See, American Express Platinum, you'll only earn 1x in those categories. The fun doesn't just stop there. Why not get out $120 dining credit every year, as well as a $120 credit to Uber/Uber Eats? Math it out, we get $240 worth of total eating credits every year. And the points that you earn on your American Express Gold can be transferred to book business class flights. Lie flat bed, champagne, caviar. Example: instead of paying $4,000 to fly from North America to Paris on Air France, you could transfer 50,000 points over to Air France, make the booking, and pay less than $300 in tax and fees. This sounds way too good to be true. What's the catch? A great question. So, the thing you want to keep in mind is it does have a $250 annual fee. However, remember there's $240 worth of total eating credits. If you pay $250 and get back $240, in effect, you're only paying $10 for my favorite American Express credit card. If you're interested in the card, go ahead and tap the link in my bio to check it out.
