getting press without paying for PR do not need to pay for a PR team if you wanna get big press hits in the last year I've been featured in publications like Fox Business Forbes in the 30 under 30 list AdAge stuff like that all without any PR team all without any PR team if you're trying to get recognition and credibility for your business or your personal brand or any sort of project you're working on press is a great way to do that and there's a time and a place when hiring a PR team makes sense but at the beginning when you're working with limited resources and trying to get a bunch of credibility quickly there's a lot you can do on your own for free the first thing that works for me when I started my business and was trying to get some coverage for it was put out a press release it isn't completely free but there are services that let you do it for as cheap as $100 but just putting out a press release probably won't result in any coverage there are some publications that do scan of press releases but they're mostly looking for news from big companies in order to really get some legs on your press release you want to also send it around to a bunch of journalists with a PR pitch and people think you have to be a publicist to send pictures to journalists but that's really not true most journalists list their emails either on their X account or right in the BIOS on the publication itself and all you have to do is write a catchy subject line with exactly the subject that you're gonna talk about create a really short intro email that just says this is the news this is who I am this is what I can speak to and then attach and link the press release so that they can get more information if they want it the key here is to be really specific you don't just wanna send this to every big journalist you've ever heard of you wanna find journalists who talk about exactly the topic that you're also talking about ideally in that short little intro message you wanna even mention some of their recent work or why you think this specific person will find your work interesting if you really wanna feel professional about it and like you're not pitching yourself you can even create another email address to pretend like you're sending it on behalf of your company or yourself still a numbers game most pitches will never get any response but I've had journalist contact me about pictures I had sent them months prior or send my pictures off to some of their colleagues who they know are covering that beat you just never know when they're gonna need the exact thing that you sent them or search in their inbox for something that came up in your subject line so cast a wide but targeted net in order to get the most reach pitching is actually just the tip of the iceberg I also recommend following journalists who cover your be on Instagram a lot of times they'll ask for sources directly and you can reply right to them you can also submit for op eds at publications that accept them there's a lot of ways to get pressed comment below if you wanna hear about more of them
