Hook

Okay, as a founder, this meme has haunted me literally since the day I saw it, but I am so glad that I did see it. It shows how really popular and valuable apps that we use every single day, like an Apple product or a Google search bar, are super simple and intuitive to use the second you open them. Whereas your app, our app, the typical new founder app, often has so many over-engineered features. It's trying to do everything at once and the onboarding flow alone is enough to make you never want to use it again. ChatGPT is another great example. Even if you're not a logged-in user, if you just open chat.openai, it's a fresh chat that anyone can use, no onboarding or setup or login required. It's so easy at the early stage of a company to want to keep adding more, keep up with your competitors by adding every single bell and whistle under the sun. But then I think of this graphic to remind myself that we can do all of that in the background while actually giving our users less and not more to do.
