If you have a love hate relationship with social media, I think you should start to pay attention to some of these up and coming niche apps that are starting to disrupt the major platforms. I've talked before about this tension between the Goliath super platforms that are starting to borrow so many features from other platforms and then the way that they're being challenged by these little apps that are really just offering one sliver of the social media experience but in a way that people find relieving. And right now I am living for this app Ditto which is basically just a list sharing app that combines joy and simplicity without a lot of the pitfalls of other social media platforms. Plus their CEO and founder Lily Sun crushed it with this campaign video where they're going around to different American campuses to find ambassadors. I recently downloaded the app and have been enjoying such lists as experiences as the token zillenial in the workplace and this highly detailed three pager called celebrities I thought were cool when I was a kid male edition which is pretty relatable. I understand but Ben Diesel, nah. They are focusing masterfully on building community and I think they're breathing just a breath of fresh air into the social media landscape right now. I am cheering them on.
