When I tell people they need a holding company, they laugh. They think I'm talking about big share hardaway. But I'm not. A holding company is just a parent company that owns other LLCs. It's a structural tool and it's just as useful for a small business as it is for four to 500 companies. Now, here's why a small business owner might want to have a holding company. So let's say you run a consulting business and you also own some rental property in one LLC, right? Now, if your consulting business gets sued, everything in your name is potentially at risk, including your rental property. With the holding company structure, you create a parent company. Onto that parent company, you can have multiple business entities. You can create one operating LLC for your rental company and another operating LLC for your consulting business. So a lawsuit against the consulting cannot reach the rental property LLC because the holding company creates a legal wall between them. This works for any combination multiple businesses. So this works for any combination multiple business entities, LLC, C corporations, uh, consulting. Whatever type of business you have, you need to separate it and you need to protect it. And here's the secret most people don't realize. A holding company doesn't do any operation. It just holds things of value. Because the holding company does not operate, it takes on no contract and it holds no liabilities. Its only job is to hold and separate your assets. If you wanna learn step by step how to structure your holding companies and then layer it using a trust as the owner of the holding company, comment DIY. and I'll send it to you.
