Hook

In 2000, Netflix tried to sell their entire company for 50 million. They pitched it to Blockbuster. Blockbuster's executives laughed them out of the room. At the time, Netflix was just a small startup mailing DVDs in red envelopes. Blockbuster had 9,000 stores around the world. They dominated the movie business. Late fees alone made them hundreds of millions every year. Netflix had a crazy idea. What if people paid a monthly subscription and never paid late fees again? Blockbuster, they thought it was ridiculous. So Netflix went back and doubled down. They improved their recommendation algorithm, built a subscription model, and focused on convenience. Then came the real gamble: streaming. Most people thought the internet was too slow to watch movies online. Netflix bet the entire company on it anyway. Today, Blockbuster's pretty much gone and Netflix, they're worth hundreds of billions. The company that got laughed at built the future. Sometimes the biggest advantage is simple: seeing where the world is going before everybody else does.
