Google just launched Gemini avatars, and this might be the easiest way to clone yourself that has ever existed. You can now create your own talking head avatar, a video version of you that says anything you type, without a camera setup. It's live in the Gemini app right now for Pro and Ultra users. So let me show you exactly how it works. First, what even is an avatar? Simple, it's your digital clone, a version of you that looks like you, sounds like you, and talks like you, except you control it by typing. Here's how you make one. You open Google Gemini, go into Avatars, and hit Add Avatar. It pops up a QR code. You scan that with your phone and it asks you to read out a few numbers while it scans your face from every angle. That's a full 3D biometric scan, not one selfie. It's mapping the actual shape of your face, the way you move, the way you talk. Give it a couple of minutes and the avatar gets added to your account automatically. To use it, you just tag your avatar, your ID, or your email, and type what you want it to say. That's it. Make my avatar say this in any language and it generates a video of you saying it. About your data, the only thing it takes is your face and voice from that one recording, used purely to build your avatar, nothing else. It's stored in your own Google account, locked to you, 18 and up only. You can delete it anytime and Google wipes that face and voice data off its systems.
