AI for Excel got so good this week that business analysts are going to have to look at their jobs. I'm not kidding. We have had Copilot for Excel come out, we have had Claude 3.5 come out, and they are both extraordinary. And I mean 1,000x increases in speed over what humans can do. You still have to bring it the data, you still have to write the prompt correctly. I put up a whole post on prompts. But if you do that, I, I'm not kidding, I timed it. I created a multi-tab analysis spreadsheet using one of my prompts that took me five minutes and it took me three and a half days if I did it the other way. That's about 1,000x increase in speed. That is how powerful these two models are that released this week. In particular, Copilot is better at editing a little bit and Claude is better at creating because it has the ability to use Python and sort of create the whole analysis and then put it in the Excel.
