🇧🇼 WHAT HAPPENED TO TIRELO SECHABA AND SCHOOL SPORTS? In a recent conversation with my fellow founders of IMM(Ikage Motswana, Masheleng, and Mogobe Incorporated) whilst being interviewed by Mr Tee aka Tinashe Mosasankegi, we reflected on the profound impact that the sudden removal of Tirelo Sechaba and the decline of structured school sports have had on our society. These programmes were never just about temporary employment or sporting activities. They instilled discipline. They built character. They created a sense of national identity. They taught teamwork, resilience, leadership, and responsibility. For many young people, Tirelo Sechaba was their first introduction to structure, accountability, and service to something greater than themselves. School sports, meanwhile, nurtured talent, promoted healthy competition, and kept many young people focused, engaged, and away from destructive influences. Today, we continue to grapple with rising unemployment, weakened mentorship structures, declining community engagement, and a growing disconnect among young people. It is worth asking whether the disappearance of some of these institutions has contributed to the challenges we now face. In this clip, I share my thoughts on this important issue and why I believe we must have an honest national conversation about rebuilding the structures that once helped shape responsible citizens and future leaders. 🎥 Watch the clip below and join the conversation.
