In 1977, humanity sent two spacecraft into interstellar space - Voyager 1 and Voyager 2. On board each of them is a unique artifact - the Voyager Golden Record. It was created as a message for possible extraterrestrial civilizations and as a kind of time capsule, telling the story of Earth and its inhabitants. The project was led by astronomer Carl Sagan together with a team of scientists, artists, and engineers. The record contains 115 images, sounds of Earth’s nature, ocean waves, wind, birdsong, animal calls, and greetings in 55 languages. It also includes musical works from different cultures and eras - from classical compositions to traditional folk music from around the world. To help potential recipients play the record, instructions were engraved on its aluminum cover using fundamental principles of physics and mathematics. The cover also shows Earth’s location relative to nearby pulsars, allowing the origin of the message to be identified. Today, both spacecraft continue their journey beyond the Solar System. The Golden Record remains one of the most ambitious and symbolic projects in human history - an attempt to tell the Universe who we are and what our world was like. #Space #edit #NASA #Astronomy #Science
