Day 1 of Muharram

Today is the first day of Muharram, which is the first month of the Islamic calendar. So for the next 10 days, things will be looking a little bit different. First thing this morning, I'm dropping off my kids to camp for the next couple weeks. They're going to be learning about Ashura and the battles that took place. I dropped off the boys and I have about four hours before I have to pick them up. I was actually supposed to be spending the day a little differently. My husband and I are supposed to attend an all women's lecture that's happening today at 11 o'clock. But the day had other plans and I ended up needing to stop and to work. I just pulled up to the office. I got a little hungry, so I grabbed this protein chips. Tortilla protein chips. I should be wrapping up some here and hitting the door. I want something to you real quick. So we're stopping at five guys for a drink and some fries. My boys just got home from camp. So we're going to ask them what they learned on the first day of Ashura. What did you guys learn today? I learned that the battle of Karbala. And we also learned that Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, risked his life for Islam. They want to know that the most important point is that Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, risked his life for Islam. The camp went pretty well. It's currently 3 PM. There's an English program that starts at 4 PM at the Islamic Institute of America. I need to figure out what the kids want to eat and hopefully we can make it to the 4 PM lecture.
