At Caspersen Beach in Venice, Florida you can find all types of shark teeth including megalodon (largest shark to ever exist). You’re basically collecting fossils which are millions of years old! We found teeth from hammerhead sharks, tiger sharks, lemon sharks and more. . Ten million years ago, when Florida was submerged underwater, the area was filled with sharks. Over time, as the water receded giving way to land, the prehistoric sharks died - their fossilized teeth remained. Venice sits on top of a fossil layer that runs 18-35 feet deep. Storms and waves slowly push the fossils to the beach. . Best time to search for shark teeth is during low tide. .
