Getting paid to wait for AI sounds ridiculous. But honestly, it also makes a weird amount of sense. If you use tools like Claude Code or Codex, you already know how much time gets lost while the AI is thinking, coding, fixing, debugging, or running a task in the background. Most of the time, you are just staring at a loading message waiting for something to happen. Kickbacks turns that waiting time into ad space. So instead of watching a blank loading screen, you see a small sponsored message, and you get paid a cut of the revenue when it shows up. What started as a joke apparently turned into a $30 million business, with some users making over $70 a day just from using their normal AI coding workflow. This is one of those ideas that sounds silly for about three seconds. Then you realize it might actually be genius.
