That's $10,000 I wanted to spend on my home gym, but I ended up spending more and here's why. Before looking at the price of any equipment, I set a budget goal of around $10,000. I was okay with going a little bit over that, but $10,000 was the number I was aiming for. For me personally, my biggest roadblock was the amount of space I was dealing with. I only had about 300 square feet to work with, so that was more of a challenge than the budget itself. My style of training is centered around bodybuilding, so I needed more than just some half rack with some dumbbells and kettlebells and maybe a bike. And I also couldn't afford or find bodybuilding equipment and machines, so I found some pieces of equipment that got me to my training goals and that were able to fit in here. And I was also able to stay around my $10,000 budget. Flooring, paint, lights, mirrors, I ended up spending, please, $10,313. Not bad for where I had my budget set before looking at any prices. But if you're planning on building a home gym, it goes to show that you'll probably end up spending more than you expect to. There are tons of hidden costs that add up in the end, so make sure you're aware that the "budget" probably won't be the budget in the end. If you could make your own home gym with no budget, what would you put in it? And other home gym owners can vouch for me on that too.
