Before moving to Kyoto, I thought I knew what this city was all about. 🍵⛩️ Temples, shrines, matcha, and traditional Japan. But after living here, I realized there’s so much that nobody talks about. 👀 ☀️ The summers are brutally hot ❄️ The winters feel colder than you’d expect 🎓 Kyoto is actually more of a student city than a tourist city 🏙️ Strict regulations shape the skyline 🛍️ Many locals go to Osaka when they want to shop 🤝 Some traditional places still operate on an introduction-only basis The more time I spend here, the more I realize that Kyoto is way more complex than the image most people have of it.
