late starters are the hungriest and they are just as dangerous as the people who've had their talent their whole life. Here is a story that explains why. There is this Greek general named Agathocles and he lands on enemy shores to attack the walled city of Megalopolis. They were vastly outnumbered and they were way less skilled than the defenders of the city. So the second his men jumped off the boat, Agathocles gave one order: burn all the boats. And his own soldiers stood there watching their only way home turn to ash. With no retreat, their only option was to win because the soldiers knew that being captured meant being turned into slaves. And against all odds, Agathocles' army actually won. The reason why his army won is an example of your brain entering a state of urgency. Because when you start late, you don't get to take your time. The clock already burned the boats for you. And you've felt this before. Think about an assignment you've procrastinated until the last minute, but out of nowhere you get this inhuman surge of energy and you just knock it out. It's the exact same mechanism. It's called the focus dividend. Because when something feels urgent, your brain enters a special type of flow state. But the guy with all the talent doesn't feel that same sense of urgency. So if there's something you've been putting off because you think it's too late, that pressure isn't working against you. Like and follow if you agree.
