A few years ago, little did we know that the highlight of our season would happen on opening day of teal season because of an incredible young man from Louisiana named Benson Brady. We are heartbroken to learn that Benson has gone home to be with the Lord. Benson’s love for life and duck hunting was obvious from the moment we met him. The entire crew fell in love with his personality that morning in the blind as he stole the show, and even though our time together was brief, the impact he left on all of us will last forever. Before the hunt, we told Benson it would be pretty special if we could capture his first duck on camera. Like any hunter, especially a young man, we knew he was feeling a little pressure knowing he was being filmed. Then somehow, after the action had slowed and time was ticking toward the end of the hunt, a solo blue-winged teal came in perfectly right in front of his spot in the blind, and it happened. Benson got his first duck on camera. It was nothing short of a God thing. It was one of those moments none of us will ever forget, and we’re incredibly thankful we got to be there for it. His passion for spending time outdoors with his family was a powerful reminder of why getting the next generation involved in the outdoors matters so much. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Brady family, along with all of Benson’s friends and loved ones. In moments where words fail, one of the greatest gifts we can offer is prayer. Lord, please hold them close and give them strength, comfort, and peace in the days ahead.
