WELL, THIS PAPER SEEMS TO FIND LOT OF OVERLAP BETWEEN CRISTATUSSAURUS AND SUCHOMIMUS. SO WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? WELL, IT BASICALLY MEANS THAT THESE TWO ARE ONE AND THE SAME. AS IN, THEY ARE THE SAME SPECIES. THE TAXONOMIC NAMING GOES WAS NAMED FIRST THE NAME. IN THIS CASE, CRISTATUSSAURUS WAS NAMED FIRST, SUCHOMIMUS WOULD BE A JUNIOR SYNONYM OF CRISTATUSSAURUS. THAT I HAVE A CRISTATUSSAURUS FIGURE OR RATHER, I HAVE TWO CRISTATUSSAURUS FIGURES. OR ACTUALLY, THEY'RE ABOUT 3. 3 CRISTATUSSAURUS FIGURES. SO, YEAH, POTENTIALLY. RI P. SUCHOMIMUS. We have some pretty interesting spinosaurid. The Isle. Suchomimus may no longer be with us. A paper that was just published that essentially had the goal of examining a few different spinosaurid snouts. Alain Bénéteau. To do was basically determine how sensitive these snouts were, they capable of picking up vibrations, like movement in the water and things like that? Conclusion was they were pretty sensitive snouts. It's pretty likely that spinosaurids would stand on the banks, to rivers or lakes or something like that, snout into the water to pick up any vibrations from fish moving throughout, which is already very cool stuff. But additionally, this study seemed to find really interesting implications about Suchomimus. One of the spinosaurs that were looked at in this study was Cristatusaurus. PaleoGeekSquared. Cristatusaurus is a lesser known spinosaur. Extremely fragmentary remains, of a controversial dinosaur. Lot of questions about its validity over the years. Well, this paper seems to find a lot of overlap between Cristatusaurus and Suchomimus. So what does that mean? Well, it basically means that these two are one and the same. As in, they are the same species. The taxonomic naming goes whoever was named first gets the name. In this case, Cristatusaurus was named first, which means Suchomimus would be a junior synonym of Cristatusaurus. That I have a Cristatusaurus figure. Or rather, I have two Cristatusaurus figures. Or actually, they're about 3. 3 Cristatusaurus figures. So, yeah, potentially. RIP. Suchomimus. This was certainly a really interesting paper.
