If you think showing up at the factory is enough for a QC inspection, you're too naive.

Here are three things that you must know whenever you're visiting a Chinese factory. No. 1 make sure you go to the production line and not just the sample room. Most sample rooms in any factory in China is hand picked perfect. You wanna make sure you come to the production line and see what is actually being produced. The workers operation, the materials status and also what is the frequency of inspection. Here at the production line it's where real quality happens. And No. 2 check the warehouse of the factory not the showroom. The inside of the warehouse tells you everything about the factory whether it has fast inventory turnover speed, status of the materials that are being used on the production line, the humidity and the temperature of the warehouse. It shows you everything about a factory. No. 3 review documents not certificates. The certificates of a factory can easily fill a wall. You need to ask for the real operational documents. There are three documents that I normally ask for. BOM sheets that's for one. No. 2 is QC inspection reports and No. 3 is the shipping logs of the factory. Factories that produce consistent documentation are the ones that run properly. And one bonus tip for everybody, film everything with your phone so you can have it on record and compare it later.
