The best part about this machine is also its biggest weakness and it's probably user error. I hate to say. Let me explain is not completely your fault. This is called the Bista assist setting on this machine. Uh this comes on the Ninja uh Lux Cafe. This comes on the Pro version and also comes on the mini version. Uh this setting is designed to help you get close to a really good shot of espresso. It also is nice because it reminds you of where you need to go for like you're going to make cold brew or just regular drip coffee it tells you where to go with your grind setting. Uh but when you're making espresso, as you pull a shot of espresso, it's measuring how long and how much volume of uh water is going through that shot. And then suggesting a new grind size for you, a recommended grind size. And that's wonderful because it helps you dial in your shot faster. However, it is not a perfect system. And through a lot of trial and error, I found that sometimes it's great and it knocks it out of the park and it gets the grind setting on the first or second time. other times, it will go all over the place and the numbers will go up and down and up and down and up and down. And that can drive people crazy because they get stuck in this loop of chasing this number. And I'm here to tell you you don't have to chase that number. Think of this like GPS on your phone. It's going to get you close to where you want to go, but it's not going to tell you, hey, walk into the building, take a left, talk to Sheila. She's going to tell you where the doctor's office is and then go to that that's not what the GPS is four in your phone. It just gets too close. This will help you get very close to a proper grind setting. But you might have to adjust it up and down from where it tells you to. And you might need to ignore it after you get that grind setting that you really like. So say I've gotten a really good shot of espresso on setting 15. Well, now it's recommending 18. I'm going to just go ahead and ignore it. I know that my grind setting is already dial in. I know that's where I like it. I know what my espresso tastes good there. I'm not going to listen to it at this point. because something funky is going on with the way it's measuring something. Ignore it once you get a good shot of espresso. You don't need to keep chasing it. It's not this thing where it knows better than you. You still are in control of pulling your own shots and making your own coffee. Please don't let this number overwhelm you. Now, look, I know people with some OCD issues are going to look at that and go, but it's not in the right number. It's not in the right number. I get it. It's annoying. You can even go into your settings and turn this off if it really bothers you. But just know that you don't have to follow that number if you find something that works better. So have fun with this. Don't let it stress you out. This is a great feature because it helps you get close. Think of all the poor people that are on the Beverly Beverly Express and they don't even have any clue of where their grind setting should be. They just have to guess and figure it out and they go through so much more coffee trying to figure that out. At least this helps you get close. This is an assistant, but it doesn't know everything and your intuition is going to do a little bit more work for you on the back. again. So, I hope that helps. I hope that helps you understand the machine a little bit better. I hope that helps you enjoy your coffee a little bit more.
