How big should you be sizing your designs or prints for your T-Shirts?

So I'm making it now. How do you know what size to make your prints or your designs for a t-shirt? Now, that's no matter if you're using an extra large, a large, a medium, a small, toddler size shirts, infants, babies, whatever. You always want to measure your shirt. I do have this little chart right here that you guys can look at. And that just kind of gives you an idea, but to be honest, I always, always, always recommend you double check your sizing. If you have the shirt right in front of you, by using a ruler. And I know as crazy as that sounds because you're like, okay, how do I measure? Well, let me show you how I would measure for me to know what size print to make the design on a shirt. So I have my t-shirt right here on my little table and I'm going to start with the one inch. Again, you're not going to go all the way here. I like to put the ruler to start somewhere here in the middle, kind of like where the shoulders fall into place and just measure here to see really how big you really do have before you say, okay, that's too close to the side. Remember, anytime that you have a design too close to the edge, this is your side, which is going to curve in into your body. So you always want to make sure you measure like just the center itself. So since this is an XL shirt unisex, if I were wanting to make a design let's say 13, 14 inches wide, maybe even 11 cutting it. So your design is from here to here. And really it's just in the center. So 11 inches wide would be probably the width that I would go with the widest. And then the length or the height will adjust to whatever the image is. So now that I know we're doing 11 inches in width, you also want to double check and make sure that 13 inches height is not too long. So let me show you. You can still see you have all of this extra room from like 13 inches down. So I feel like that's enough space. And I think maybe if you wanted it that big, 11 by 13 would be perfect for this size. Now because we know not all designs are built the same. So this is an 11 inch width, but you see the height is only 5.774. And that's because the image goes more rectangle shape, then it is going down. So on this image itself, it would still be perfect for the shirt. It's just mainly wording. So I would leave it back at how it was and not mess with it. So I hope that helps you guys get an idea on how to size your shirts. I always, always, always recommend doubling checking the sizing by grabbing a ruler, grabbing your shirt and measuring the center space. You want to be like two or three fingers down from the collar when you're going to be placing it on the t-shirt. So those are my tips. Let me know if that helps.
