I'm not saying that the WB tattoo isn't Ace's real pride, it undoubtedly is, but the whole point is that we see Ace's tattoo. not his beads, not his ASCE tattoo, but a tattoo of a Whitebeard. it was the Whitebeard who opened for Ace the view on life that he needed all his childhood, and this tattoo is not just his pride in belonging to the crew, it's his pride in the man who helped him become who he was for the rest of his life. this tattoo reflected the principles by which he lived, he even followed Teach precisely cuz he wanted to protect the principles established on the WB ship, to protect the honor of his crew. at first, we don't see Ace's body, not his back, but only a tattoo that tells us that Ace covered Luffy not just with his body, but with everything he had and everything he lived by. he allowed himself to be hit in the most vulnerable spot, in fact, HIS pride, for which he initially went to fight one-on-one with Akainu again. and no, I'm not saying that "Ace is proud by himself" because that would make him look like a fool who got into a fight and died because of pride. I'm talking about the fact that Ace is proud of the one who protected him all this time and who gave him everything that he took with him in his last moments, and believe me, this is different from that one “stupid” pride that makes you to do meaningless actions. Ace has never been proud of himself, and you would have noticed this if you remembered his character and all the key aspects of his personality and life very well. in his last battle, he gave his life for his brother, of whom he was proud, and for the honor of his captain, of whom he was proud. but the fact that he allowed his real "dirty" blood to be shed through a tattoo with the sign of the man he considered his real father, for the sake of his brother, who was also not his blood brother, only proves how sincere Ace really was in all his last words and gratitude for all the love and recognition. that he never really needed fame as much as he needed well-being and a family, which he never had until he was a conscious age. please understand Ace’s character before hating him for “pride” cuz HIS pride is definitely not something you think it is. #portgasdace #onepiece #fyp
