You may have found me recently from my weekend posts! So here’s a little bit about me/why think these posts are so important In 2022 I started sharing about my weekend blues… the sadness that overcame me every weekend I didn’t have plans or friends to hang out with. As I scrolled all weekend and saw everyone online going out, trying new things, hanging with their friends or partners, I felt lame and embarrassed that I was doing “nothing” all weekend That inspired me to start trying to live my solo life to the fullest, I started romanticizing moments alone. I spent time making my house my cozy sanctuary. I tried new hobbies and crafts. I learned new recipes. and how to really be my own best friend. And I wanted to inspire people like me to do the same. I have a lot of social anxiety, I’ve always been the quiet girl, but I wanted to get out more and to stop waiting for other people to be able to do things with me. For my anxiety to stop holding me back. By taking baby steps I started taking myself out on solo dates. I started at counter service restaurants and public parks, worked my way up, and then last year I went on a book retreat vacation all by myself! I also wanted to grow my in-person community. I live near my family and spend time with them a lot, but they also have their own lives and I wanted friends to have early dinners with, to explore new places with, to host craft parties with… So I joined a pickleball club… really with the expectations of just getting out of the house and challenging myself to meet new people. But a miracle happened. I met a new friend that would become one of my favorite people, and I realized that maybe I’m not socially awkward and it’s possible to make new friends in my 30’s Sadly, I am cursed with all of my friends literally living in different states and countries and my new friend moved to Spain at the start of this year, so I kind of feel like I’m starting over again. Whether I have tons of friends of just one friend, I am an introvert and I feel most energized and myself when I’m alone. I always felt like something was wrong with me. So I’ve found it really important to use my platform to try to normalize being alone… Spending all weekend bopping around your house alone is not only normal, but it’s cool! Not having a friend to go out with every night is normal! Loving your alone time and feeling comfortable in it is a super power, and we need to stop letting people who don’t understand that take our power away So ill continue sharing my single life, my nights and weekends alone, giving you guys ideas for activities, hobbies, books, tv shows, meals And Ill continue to push myself out of my comfort zone to inspire you all to do the same, and I hope you’ll join me in making weekends with no plans cool If you like this kind of content and want a virtual friend to hang out with on the weekends, I also have a YouTube channel where I share my cozy days at home. I post a new vlog every weekend so we can hang out every weekend, together but separately, on my channel Devon Willo @devonandwillo
