Have you ever noticed Claude gets progressively dumber the more you use it this is not because of the model you're running or the quality of your prompting it's actually because of this thing called the Content Rot which is essentially a combination between having too many tokens across the chat which leads Claude to forget some of the initial instructions not carrying over some of the important information when you make requests How do you fix this? but how do you actually fix it well there's a couple of ways in which you can fix this the first is by starting a new chat every 15 to 20 messages this really helps make things clean the second is running /clear this will clear out all parameters and context that no longer matters and if all else fails what you should do is create a handoff.MD file Handoff.MD File in this file you should include the goal of the project the current state what didn't work and what the next steps are this will at the very least stay sharp and fully understand your project when you export it and import it into a new session so give it a try if you have to and follow me for more daily AI tips
