WHAT I EARNED AS|

Let's chat about what I earned during the month of June as a scopist. And for those of you that are new here, hi, my name is Annie. I have been a legal scopist for 10 years now, and I am a mom who has a little boy at home. And if you've never heard of scoping before, don't worry, that is what this page I love to educate people about the opportunities that it can provide. Scopists work directly with court reporters to ensure that the court records are 100% verbatim, that they are formatted correctly, and that basically everything reads word-for-word perfect. So we listen to audio while we read along the court transcripts, and then we send them back to the court reporter who files them officially with the court system. This is a job that can literally be done from anywhere. It is one of the reasons I have loved it through various seasons of my life. I did it as a student, going through college, getting my masters degree. I did it while I had a full-time job on the side, just to earn extra. And now it's something I do part-time or as a side hustle as a new mom. So let's get into the details of what I earned during the month of June. For the month of June, I scoped a total of nine jobs. This was a pretty consistent month. Most days I had something that I could work on, and that's how I love it. Scopists don't earn an hourly rate. Instead, we are paid per page that we scope. And those page rates can vary greatly depending on a lot of different factors. But I went ahead and totaled it to an hourly rate on average with all of the jobs combined and all of the time I spent scoping, and it came out to a total of $52 per hour, which honestly, not bad. Now mind you, I only scoped during nap time. So compared to someone who is doing scoping full time, my earnings are minimal, minimal, minimal. But I do love bringing in just a little bit extra of fun money, money to save, money to invest. And so my grand total of money earned for the month of June was $745.75.
