In celebration of America’s 250th birthday this weekend, we decided to take a look back at the Revolutionary War through a different lens: the finances. America was dead broke for the entire war, to the point that some soldiers even defected because they weren’t able to feed their families. Fortunately, the French came through with all the Americans needed to support the war effort, and Alexander Hamilton was able to put systems in place to balance the books after the war ended.
