🦒Below are some of the biggest lessons we have learnt. 👉🏼 Send us a private message and we’ll connect you with our trusted local safari operators we have personally travelled with 🐘🥰 ❌Here’s what we would NEVER do again when planning and booking a safari in Tanzania… 👇🏼 👉🏼 Book with a third-party travel agent ✨ EXPERT TIP: A lot of big third-party overseas travel agents add a big markup to the safaris they resell, meaning you pay more, while less goes to the people on the ground. When you book through local, reputable, vetted, licensed operators (like the ones we work with), more of your money supports sustainable tourism including the guides, communities and conservation. 👉🏼 Assume “tented camp” means basic camping ⛺ EXPERT TIP: In Tanzania, tented camps can range from a mid-range to ultra-luxury! Think proper beds, en-suite bathrooms and incredible locations. It’s always worth clarifying what’s included so expectations match the experience. 👉🏼 Only spend one day in the Serengeti 🌿 EXPERT TIP: The Serengeti is huge, so we always recommend allowing at least two to three nights so you can slow down, explore different areas and actually experience what makes the Serengeti so special. 👉🏼 Skip the wildebeest calving season 🐃 EXPERT TIP: Calving season (Jan–March in the southern Serengeti) is an incredible time to visit and is often a great alternative to witnessing the Great Migration in the ‘peak season’ months. It’s cheaper and usually brings less crowds. 👉🏼Still deciding where to go?
