Everyone thinks the secret to getting insane results out of Fable 5 is writing a better prompt. It's actually not. Here are the 3 prompts I now run before starting anything real 👇 #1- The blindspot pass Before touching the code, say: "I'm new to this part of the codebase. Do a blind spot pass and show me my unknown unknowns so I can prompt you better." It surfaces the potholes you didn't even know to ask about. #2- Make it interview you Say: "Interview me one question at a time about anything ambiguous, and prioritize the questions where my answer would change the architecture." You'll catch decisions you hadn't realized you needed to make. #3- Prototype And number three, prototype before you build. Instead of describing what you want, say "Make me one HTML page with four wildly different directions so I can react." Half the time we don't actually know what we want until we see it. Your prompt is a map, but the real work happens in the territory. The actual codebase, the real constraints. Every gap between the two is an unknown, and you can't prompt your way around what you can't see. That's the real skill now, not typing the perfect prompt, but finding your unknowns before they get expensive to fix.
