Australian artists are calling on the government to do more to protect their work from AI companies. The Atlantic recently published a searchable database of music that’s been made available to train AI. Songs from @playlunch @smolfishband and Flewnt were among the millions of songs in the database. Last year the government ruled out providing a Text and Data Mining Exception to copyright law that would've allowed AI systems to train on Aussie content without consent or compensation. Australian creatives are urging the government to hold firm on copyright law and insist they should be compensated if AI companies use their work. The government is expected to make a major announcement on AI policy tomorrow (Wednesday July 15). #triplej #music #ai
