If you are just hitting delete when massive corporations flood your inbox, you are throwing away dollars in federal cash. Under the CAN-SPAM Act, once you hit unsubscribe, a company has 10 business days to stop emailing you. If that same company sends another marketing email after that deadline, they are breaking federal law and are liable for up to $500 in damages per email. First, find the promotional email at the bottom, unsubscribe link. Then, screenshot confirmation page. Exactly, wait exactly two weeks for the legal deadline to pass. Next, if that same company sends another marketing email, do not delete it. Save it as permanent evidence. Finally, email their corporate department stating they violated the CAN-SPAM Act and demand a settlement. Report them to the FTC.
