Cleaning your floors can be a big job. So let me show you a few tips to make it faster, easier, and keep your floors cleaner longer. And really, the best part about these tips is they can be used on any type of floor you might have in your home. So the first tip and really the first place you should always start when it comes to cleaning your floors is to either sweep or vacuum first. Now, I know this might seem kind of obvious to some, but I just always feel like it's vital to mention this tip because it really sets up your clean for success. Now, let's say you don't do this tip and you just spray your cleaner down or get your wet mop and start going at it. What's going to happen is any sort of hair that's on the floor or even dirt and things, the dirt's gonna kind of turn into mud when you hit it with water and it's going to make a bigger mess and that hair is going to stick to the surface like glue and be extremely hard to clean up and it's going to make your clean take so much longer. And most importantly, your floors will get cleaner. This is especially important if you have like a wood grain floor or even a luxury vinyl plank that has a texture to it because dirt and grime love to hide in all those crevices. Now, two quick things to keep in mind while using your vacuum on your floor. Number one, you want to make sure that your roller brush is soft and not super stiff because we don't want that to scratch, especially if you have a softer wood grain floor or even a luxury vinyl plank that has a texture to it. And the other thing is, when you're vacuuming, you're just not going to be able to get into all the nooks and crannies and spaces. So what I like to do is just grab my little brush attachment here, use this with the vacuum, that way I can kind of detail a few areas as needed, and even if I see something on the baseboard, I'm going to vacuum it up that way I don't have to clean it later. So by taking a few minutes and doing this step first, you'll be able to clean faster and most importantly, your floors will get cleaner. Now, at the beginning of the video, I did mention about cleaning all types of floors and the one type of floor that I'm not really touching on in this video is carpet. And that's because the process for cleaning carpet is a little more involved and it takes a few extra tools. But don't worry, I have a full step-by-step video I'll link down in the description below. Definitely check that out if you want to get your carpets nice and clean. The next tip is to always use a neutral pH floor cleaner like these ones here. I really like these, like the one here from Ecolab does a good job. I really like how this one smells too. Zep makes one that does a great job as well and even Fabuloso is neutral pH. Now, you might be wondering at home, what in the world does that even mean? And essentially, these cleaners are smack dab in the middle of the pH scale. What can happen if you use super acidic or even alkaline cleaners on your floors is it can cause damage over time. It can strip the finish and it can even damage the wood if you use it on wood, like for instance, you know, I love cleaning with vinegar if you've watched my videos before, but vinegar is acidic and it can damage your floors. So, always make sure you're using a neutral pH floor cleaner.
