🚨 Heads up for anyone renewing their Alberta driver’s licence or ID soon! Alberta just rolled out a new 3-in-1 integrated card system. Your personal health care number and a Canadian citizenship marker are now printed directly onto the back of your new plastic licence. Because of this, you cannot do renewals online right now, and there are a couple of new rules you need to know before going to a registry office: Bring your paper health card: They will legally require you to surrender your old paper health card at the counter. Bring proof of citizenship: You must bring a physical document like your Canadian passport or birth certificate to prove legal entitlement. Check your expiry: Your healthcare number now expires every 5 years along with your licence, so you have to revalidate it every time. Save yourself a double trip and make sure you bring your physical documents! You can check the full rules on the official Government of Alberta Integrated Card Page. . . . . . . . #alberta #driverslicense #canada #yyc #yeg
