I recently moved into this all original Japanese inspired midcentury home

I recently moved into this all original Japanese inspired midcentury home. And this area here is my absolute favorite part of the house. So let me show you around. The first thing you'll probably notice is this absolutely massive skylight, which lets a ton of natural light into the space and has these pretty awesome shoji sliding screens which actually move back and forth so you can adjust the amount of light you want. I'm probably going to keep it half open like this most of the time. Since I am planning on putting some plants here which could definitely benefit from some direct natural light. Right under that big skylight is this pretty big spiral staircase, which connects to the car port which is under the house all the way up here to this main level of the house. The entire thing is actually welded together as one massive piece of black steel, which definitely makes it pretty visually striking. And also makes coming up to this main level of the house a pretty unique and fun experience. One last thing I wanted to highlight is this little area right here, which not only has this unfortunately beat up pendant that is original to when the home was built in the 60s, but also this smaller little secondary skylight here, which actually used to be open. The reason for that is there actually used to be a tree that grew from under the house, through the floor right here, and then up through this little skylight right here. Obviously you can see it's not here anymore, but it is still pretty cool.
